We’re pleased to share that DeliveredSoft have released our own Data Compare Tool for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
What it does
The Data Compare Tool enables organisations running Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations to compare configuration data across multiple environments and legal entities quickly and reliably. It works at the table level – you are not limited to data entities – and the system recognises surrogate-key replacement, so comparisons remain accurate even across complex setups. You can also compare data within the same environment between different legal entities, which is especially useful when identical setup is maintained per company. There is no restriction on data type: configuration, master, and transactional data can all be compared.
How it works (in brief)
- On the source environment – define the tables to export, select the relevant companies, and export the data to a single file.
- On the destination environment – import the file, run the comparison, review the results, and merge changes where needed.
An additional option allows you to update fields directly based on comparison results, so discrepancies can be resolved without leaving the tool.
Practical examples
- Compare module parameters – instead of manually reviewing every tab on each parameter form, the system shows whether any differences exist.
- Compare dictionaries – verify warehouse and inventory-location settings across environments and see exactly what differs.
- Selective updates – when a difference is detected, review it and decide whether to update the destination with the new value.
